Early 19th. century tin candle lantern

A most unusual tin candle lantern. This lantern is from the early 19th. century. Made of tin, with 4 glass panels. An unusual smoke bell on the top, in that it is a double smoke bell. Usually there is only one. The candle socket is cleated thru the bottom of the lantern. You usually see this feature in earlier lighting. This lantern has an unusual drip pan on the base as well and, most unusual, ventilation holes on the bottom of the lantern. The lantern has its original wire loop bale handle. The lantern measures 9″ tall and 4″ square.

A RARE PA. GERMAN CHIP CARVED GRAIN BOX, CHESTNUT WOOD, pre 1800’s.
This is a Pennsylvania German ,Chip Carved ” Grain Box”, “Seed Box” . It is a very unusual piece of Americana. It is designed and has the same scaled down shape and proportions as the Main Gathering Building at the Ephrata Cloisters , In Ephrata ,Pennsylvania ,the location of a Historic Religious Sect. Dating from the 1700’s, this grain box is well used, but is structurally sound. You’ll see added pieces of Wood here and there ,and an extra nail or two . But given the age of this wonderful piece of history and the fact that is was used in such a utilitarian way for several hundred years—it is actually in marvelous condition. It has a small ,hand sized door opening that lifts up. It is just large enough to put your than in or a small scoop. The Metal banding is all original . The Chip Carving all around the box is of Sunflowers ,and is priceless !!! It measures 15 1/2″ across the front x 11 1/2″ wide and is 17″ high to the Peak. Please look at all the photos. This is an opportunity to procure a wonderful piece of history and folk art.

American Folk Art Model of a Boat/Steamship

A wonderful AMERICAN FOLK ART MODEL of a BOAT (STEAMSHIP). The detailed construction of the model includes a carved wood body, single wooden stack, cloth (canvas-like) port holes, finishing nails and old string railing, and original paint decoration. The old and original paint decoration identifies the ship as the 550 with a black bottom, blue body, black deck and oyster white bridge. Measurements are approximately 26” in length, 6” wide, and 5” tall. A remarkable piece of American folk art!

Fabulous Large wall Shelf, fantastic painted surface

This wall shelf, large sconce shelf is just a wonderful country primitive. First the size is extraordinary. It measures25 inches tall, 21 inches wide and about 7 1/2 inches deep. So much larger than you normally see. The size gives it such a presence. Then there is the surface, it is dry and all original what looks like an oxidized grey or dark putty paint with what appears to be red underneath. Square nail construction. Just simply an unusual and great antique shelf.

Fabulous 19th. century large candle box with original blue paint

This is a gorgeous early 19^th century New England candle box. The primitive box is decorated with the most extraordinary shade of old and original soldier blue paint. It positively makes your heart jump! As the pictures testify, the paint is dry with wear from hundreds of years of age and use that is more prominent on one side. Made of pine, the box is well constructed with square nails that have oxidized over time. The candle box is a substantial size measuring 13 ½” long, 9” wide, and 7 ½ tall. The lid that is visibly hand chamfered has two recessed finger indentations and slides easily. It rests securely in the well-formed grooves. A rare find!

Graduated Set of Three Treen Herb Bowls

It’s hard-to-find even a single herb bowl, let alone a GRADUATED SET OF THREE HERB BOWLS. These bowls were used in the 19^th century in individual households and apothecary shops for mixing herb powders that were prescribed in recipes for home remedies and medicinal purposes. Each carved bowl has a beautifully formed detachable handle that fastens to the side of the bowl on a hand turned wooden dowel. The wood has a naturally rich and warm patina from over one hundred years of use. Measuring 3 ¼”, 4” and 4 ½” in diameter and 1 ¾”tall with a 3 ½” long handle, this graduated set of herb bowls is an exemplary piece of 19^th century treenware.

Small Sized Treen Trencher in the best Chrome Yellow Paint

This trencher has so many things going for it. It is a smaller, desirable and harder to find size, measuring only 18 inches wide, 9 inches deep and 4 inches tall. the paint is the other fabulous feature of this trencher. Chrome Yellow is not very often seen. The paint is just as you would like to see in a trencher dating to the 1870’s. The wear both to the paint and usable interior of the trencher is fabulous, showing great patina and wear. There are no cracks nor damage to the trencher. It has double handles which add extra style to the general look of the trencher. This trencher will not disappoint. Found in Pa.

This is a fabulous, early candle spike. It is completely decorated with leaves and has the most fabulous green and salmon paint. It is in excellent condition and is most likely from the early 1800’s or perhaps even the late 1700’s. It measures about 11 inches long.

Antique Calico Cape/Capelet

This is a fabulous, young adult, calico capelet, cape. The condition and structure of this cape is outstanding. Brown calico on the outside and a blue chintz like material in navy blue on the inside. I do believe this cape is completely hand stitched. And the stitching is a work of art. Just beautiful in construction and design. It measures 22 inches wide at the widest point across the back. The length is 19 inches down the back. It wouldn’t surprise me if this wasn’t a Shaker piece. I say this because of the stitching, I have never seen such fine hand stitching. If you like antique, country garb, you will treasure this piece.

This is a great looking apothecary/side stand in wonderful, original blue-grey paint. The size and shape of these drawers make it suitable as an apothecary or you could actually use it as a side stand or table stand. It measures 10 1/2″ wide, 13″ deep, and 28″ high. I love the paint and surface on this apothecary. Another great feature are the large mushroom shaped knobs. The stand has 7 graduated sized drawers. I believe this stand was built into something at one time. The left side had no paint, I added paint to the left side. There was also a chunk of wood out of the top and I filled the missing space. Charming, Miniature Pantry Box–original red paint

Just the sweetest miniature pantry box, oval in shape with one finger on the base and one on the lid. The construction is of wooden pegs and small copper nails, all present. The surface is untouched and beautifully aged oxidized red. It measures 3 3/4 x 2 x 1 3/8 inches tall. Overall excellent condition.

Large, 1800’s tin pushup candle stick–dovetailed construction

This is an exceptional dovetailed push up candle stick on stout base. The width of the base makes it nearly impossible for this light to tip over. Notice the beautiful dovetailed tin joining on the cone base. It is made of tin and is 9 3/4″ tall with a 6″ base. The first and second levels are rolled tin with hammered edge. The push lever works properly and it is in good working condition.

Antique Diminutive Tin Biscuit/Dough board with rolling pin

I love these tin dough boards with rolling pin trays and always purchase them when I can. This one is most unusual, it is biscuit board –very diminutive in size, measuring only 11 3/4 inches wide and 14 1/2 inches long. It is less than half the size of the regular dough boards of this style. This is the first one I have ever seen of this size. The biscuit board is in excellent condition, has two loops on the sides for hanging and of course the curved ledge for the rolling pin. The patina on this board is just excellent and aged well. The back of the board shows its originality and lack of oxidation from being hung against the wall for many years. This is just a great piece. Sold

Fabulous Antique Penny Rug

This is the best penny rug, most unusual and different because it is made of lighter wool materials without the use of heavy wool or felt materials. There are some missing stitches, nothing that harms the mat in any way. The colors are great, the rug is clean and it is all hand stitched. The penny rug measures about 28″ all ways. The penny rug is from the late 1800’s, a fine example from that time period.

Fabulous tin bird roaster, hearth reflector type. Handmade, late 18th. century or early 19th. century. This type of roaster sat on the hearth and was used for roasting small birds, quails or pigeons or very small birds e.g. bob whites. This roaster has 6 hooks and a nice deep drip pan below the hooks to catch any drippings while the birds were roaster. There is a large curved handle on the back for lifting or moving the roaster. The roaster is in excellent condition. A wonderful diminutive sized roaster, just perfect for any hearth. There are no known repairs or damage and shows only expected wear. Fabulous Folk Art Amusement Park, Carnival Swan

This is a remarkable piece of folk art. A very large 3 dimensional swan. The swan was used as a display for the Swan Ride (remember the swan ride?). Most likely hung outside of the entrance and there were probably two of them. I only have one–but I am glad to have that one. Looks to be made of tin or some type of galvanized material. It is three dimensional, finished on both sides. There is some paint loss as can be seen in the photos. the surface is completely original. The swan slides into the iron bracket and the bracket is screwed into the display surface. The swan measures 30″ tall, 22″ wide and 2″ deep. Folk Art at its finest. SALE PENDING

Black and White Watercolor Portrait of a Young Girl

This little portrait is special because it is all done in black, white and grey except for that one spot of color. The portrait is from the mid 1800’s and I think the frame is original to the painting. There is a practice drawing on the back. Perhaps the start of the portrait effort. the overall size is 9 1/2 x 7 1/2 and the size of just the drawing measures 6 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches.

This YELLOWARE PITCHER has a beautiful bulbous shape with a pronounced spout and an applied handle. The yelloware body is decorated with bold bands in gorgeous shades of blue, cream, and brown/black that vary in size with the largest being 5” wide. Dating to production around the turn-of-the 19^th to 20^th century, this pitcher likely has an English origin as well. Well-proportioned, this piece is 6” tall and 4” in diameter. This pitcher is in rarely found pristine condition with expected manufacturing characteristics noted.

19th. century Tavern/Inn Betty Lamps, Hearts w/room numbers

Never before have I seen anything like this. A set of 4 betty or besser lamps from a 19th. century Inn or Tavern. Each Betty Lamp has a brass heart and on the heart is a room number. I have numbers 1 thru 4. I would imagine most Inn’s only had 4 or 5 rooms to let. The lamps are gorgeous and pristine. They are all matching except for the numbers and one has a twisted hanger while the other three have straight hangers. Perhaps one was repaird during the years. The hearts with numbers show wear from handling. The lamps were collected during the day cleaned and refilled, then taken back up to the respective room for use for the evening. Each lamp is iron except for the brass heart and in working condition. The betty/besser lamps measure about 9: including the hanger and the lamps themselves measure 4 1/2″ long, 3″ wide and 1″ tall. Wonderful Native American Burl Bowl/Abenaki Tribe

A very lovely American Burl bowl. It is made of Atlantic White Cedar and most likely hails from North East Maine part of North America. It is typical of the Abenaki Tribe. Examples of such work can be identified thru “North American Burl Treen” by Steve Powers. This bowl is fabulous with its original patina. It is burnt and hewn. The bowl measures 11 3/4″ in diameter x 4 1/2″ high. This bowl has great patina and lots of beautiful eyes. Dynamite color of Robin’s Egg Blue make this antique double measure really stand out from the pack. The paint is just fabulous, great patina and condition. The measures has tongue and groove construction, and three banded wire support. There are a few shallow splinters around the bottom edge of the measure. Shaker Enfield Apple Tray, original surface, red paint

Here is a wonderful, original painted in red, Shaker Enfield apple tray. The tray is beautifully constructed with square nails. Nails are toe nailed in so they are difficult to see. The tray is from circa 1860’s and is from the Shaker Enfield community in Ct. The entire piece is untouched and all original. I love the wide canted frame that goes all the way around the perimeter of the top of the tray and almost as a mirror image the base is framed out as well. This wonderful box measures 17 1/2″ long, 11 1/4″ deep and 3″ tall. This is truly a rare find and was purchased from a private collection. It has been in that collection since 1979. $875.00

36″ long Bright Blue painted lidded box, w/compartments

I just love this piece, it is a long blue box. The blue is fantastic, bright and royal in color. The box measures 36″ long, 8 1/4″ deep and 4 3/4″ high. The construction on this box is just great, there are lovely square nails used in the construction of this box. You will love this piece. If you like it could also he hung up and used a long narrow cupboard. The condition is excellent and the blue paint is just the best and has taken on a blue greenish look in areas. This doesn’t detract from the blue it only adds to the total looks and authenticates the age of the paint. The inside is divided into compartments. Sold

Antique cherry Red bloomers, knickers, pantaloons c. 1800’s

These bloomers are great, wonderful early, hand stitched and treadle machine construction. Great detailing, red wool with black trim. Buttoned around the bottom of the leg. The bloomers or knickers are completely lined with red cotton. These pants are in excellent condition, but please note there are two small holes (see photos) and one area that has been patched. Great early country clothing.

circa 1800’s child’s Pinafore, hand stitched

This pinafore is just fabulous. It was made in the late 1800’s all done by hand and with such fine detail. The fabric is a very small blue and cream check. The pinafores hand work is marvelous. Notice how the bodice of the pinafore is all hand stitched to pull the bodice into gathers. The pinafore has ‘old fashioned string’ that is used to pull the bodice together. See how the trim around the collar, sleeve and across the top of the bodice–is all hand turned with tiny bric brac. The dress or pinafore is in excellent condition and would be a wonderful addition to your country, primitive, prairie clothing collection. Price: Sold

Folk Art Ostrich, puppet used for shadow puppetry on the wall

A most unusual piece of folk art. This is an ostrich, made of metal. It stands freely, has it’s original green painted surface. The head and tail are jointed so they can be moved. String was threaded thru the small holes you see, then the ostrich could perform however desired for the show. This is a most unusual and fabulous piece of folk art. The ostrich measures 11″ tall and 6″ wide. The ostrich stands freely on an attached stand.

Fabulous Wall Box in original paint

This wall box is just fantastic. The form is quite unusual and the lollipop top makes it special too. I love the canted front on this piece. The wall box has butt end construction and is attached with round nails. The paint is a dark reddish brown and is original to the box. The wall box measures 12 1/4 inches from the lollipop to to the bottom. The box itself measures 6 x 7 inches and cants out about 7 inches deep in the front. Price: $275.00

A beautiful, well executed, hand stitched quilt done in lovely tones of brown. The quilt is in very good, clean condition. The only damage I can find is a small whole on the back side of the quilt, please see photo. The quilt measures 71 x 65 inches. This lovely hand stitched quilt was executed in the late 1800’s.

A beautiful grain painted spoon rack with plate rack. The paint on this piece is just fabulous. The graining is strong and bright. I have photographed this rack both ways, I do think it could be hung either way. I like it with the plate rack on the top. A Penna. painted spoon rack that is an exceptional piece of early folk art. Circa 1820, square nail and dovetail construction. It measures 19″ high, 27 1/2″ wide and 5″ deep.

This FOOTED STRAINER is a YELLOWARE delicacy. In all my years of pursuing my passion, this is the only one I have ever had the pleasure of owning. Believed to be American in origin, this is the ultimate utilitarian piece designed with simplistic function in mind. The result is that the yelloware strainer is a natural centerpiece rich in pumpkin color, adorned with drainage holes, three bulbous feet, and a wide 1” rim. Most Unusual and Hard To find Lantern with lift out candle holder

I can’t say enough about this antique Lantern. It has so many unusual features from the unlikely top latch that allows the lid to lift, 6 panels of glass, lift out candle holder with a hook for hanging and a fluted smoke cap. The candle cup is cleated into the bottom of the candle pan. It has just everything you would want to see in an early 19th. century lantern. Just the right patina, very good condition and rare style. The lantern measures 13 inches to the top of the ring and the base measures 5 inches in diameter.Price: SOLD

Jaquard Coverlet/ Red and Green, American Eagle Corners

A wonderful 19th. century red and green jaquard coverlet. Large, beautiful American Eagles in each corner. The colors are bright and clean and the coverlet is in usable, excellent condition. The only apology to be made is that some of the fringe is frayed and is a bit shorter than the original length. The edge stitching is hand stitched with parts being machine stitched. Obviously a later mend to the edge. There are no holes or staining. The coverlet measures 84 x 89 inches.

Antique Telechron, tombstone, Large, Tin Advertising Clock

A most unusual clock that I have owned for over 30 years. It is very large in size, measuring 22 inches tall, 9 inches deep and 12 inches wide. The paint int is all original. The clock is electric, it is a clock, has a light and also has an advertising drum that rolls displaying different messages or ads. When I plugged it in the light works, the drum did go around and the clock worked. But as I remember, I haven’t used the clock for over 8 years, the clock didn’t work. So please assume that the clock may have to be repaired. I have never seen another clock like this. I used to have my children’s names in the roll, also used Christmas messages. I believe it was originally used to advertise merchandise. On the face of the clock it says, Telechron Motored, then below the numbers it reads, Electric Ad Clock Co. 555 W. Jackson Ave. Chicago Ill. The face of the clock has a mottled look to it. It is not rusted at all, that is just how the surface looks. I don’t think you will see this clock in too many places. Price: $775.00

This lovely young lady has beautiful curled locks. she is beautifully dressed and adorned with fine jewelry. The colors are intense and make her sparkle. It looks as though this painting was once framed in an oval frame. If you look closely you can see curved lines where pressure was placed against the canvas. the painting itself measures 9 x 11 inches. The frame is new and measures 13 3/4 x 16 inches. A beautiful manganese glazed decorated jug with original lid. Quite unusual and lovely to have the lid.The base of this jug is blackened from hearth use. The jug has incised decoration on the lid and around the top part of the jug. This type of decoration is tyipcal of Connecticut redware. The ug measures 6″ tall and has a diameter of 5″. Please note the rim chips, this is not unusual for redware of this era. There is a filled repair to one of the chips on the rim. The lid surface is excellent. A most unusual candle box. This box is just wonderful. It has the absolutely best original paint. A great piece of folk art, the candle box has a deep red background with black sponged spot decoration. The box is made of pine and the pine is very light in weight which really attests to the age of this candle box. I believe this box is early to mid 1800’s. The surface is untouched. Please note that the lid has quite a bit or shrinkage and see the wear and loss along the edges of the slide. A small piece of wood is missing from one corner, see photo. An absolutely perfect sewing rollup. Almost looks to be unused. The quality and condition of this roll up is such as you will not see too often. The ribbon and sateen material are in excellent condition. This rollup still has its original strawberry emery. There is some wear to the emery but the condition is still excellent. This roll up dates to the late 1800’s, early 1900’s. Completely open the rollup measures 10 1/2″ long and 4 1/2″ wide. The strawberry fits into the opening at the base of the rollup. Velver pincushions are on either side of the rollup.

This is a great functional as well as decorative country primitive. It is a lovely wall box that has two rows of spoon racks. The rack holes would aco0mmodate either pewter spoons or wooden spoons. This wonderful wall box has a great old surface. It is constructed with square nails and also a mix of small round nails, most likely added during the life of the wall box. What I love about this box is the deep well. It will hold bowls very well, glass jars–really a lot of various things because of its size. The overall size of the box is 19″ tall, 17″ wide and 8″ deep. Excellent condition, wonderful antique item.

A most unusual small sized broiler. This is either a miniature broiler or a child’s broiler. It is all hand wrought iron, forged. Beautiful construction. One of the legs is shaped like a boot or high top shoe. This wonderful piece is in excellent condition. From an old general store, comes a great piece of memorabilia that is not commonly found in TIN-A CANDY APOTHECARY CONTAINER. Measuring 8” long, 8”, wide, and 12” tall, the candy container has a tin body with a glass front and tin lid. The tin boasts heavy remnants of the old and original black and blue paint with an embossed moon and star design. The lid has a strap handle that allows for easy removal. In great condition, with wear consistent with age, this would compliment any primitive décor.

I can’t say enough about this wonderful counter box. It could be used in so many different settings. First of all this box has a wonderful original surface in blue paint. It has such a fine and proven patina. All of the knobs are original, old and cleated in. The box has dovetailed construction. I love the well in the center of this box, it is a great place to hold your bowls or breadboards etc. Lots of drawers for storage. Very sturdy. The sides were never painted–or perhaps someone cleaned them years ago. This lovely apothecary measures 40″ long, 10 1/4″ deep and 9″ high.

A very nice pastry cutout complete set. This lovely set is like a puzzle. All of those different shapes, your choice to decide what design will be used in your wonderful pastry to. This set is from the early 1900’s. It is complete and comes in its small tin case. On the bottom of the case it is stamped Made in Czechoslovakia. Someone really cared for this set to keep is all together and in such wonderful shape. The cutouts measure about 1/2″ in diameter and about 1″ long. The case measures 2 1/8″ in diameter and 1 1/2″ tall.

A wonderful antique firkin with great paint. A very fine example of early American grain painting. This lovely firkin sports mustard and white grain paint, lapped fingers. The firkin is in excellent condition, but please note that there is a small slit on the rim of the lid, it has been repaired–you can see some of the glue that is keeping it secure. The firkin in mid 19th. century. It measures 9 1/2″ tall–add 3″ to the top of the handle, 9″ diameter across the lid.

A wonderful spice box in bittersweet paint. Besides having great paint the spice box has the appropriate wear for a 19th. century box. The detailing on the box shows chamfered sides on the lid and nice cut out finger grip with wear. the lid slides well and shows some shrinkage. This is a wonderful 19^th century WOOD BASKET. The basket is sturdily constructed of wood rods that are dowelled into the frame. Visible mortise and tenon construction was used at the corners for strength. Further reinforcement was added a long time ago with a 9” strip on the bottom of one side. Measuring 22” square on top and 18” square on the bottom, the basket has canted sides with strong visual appeal. In naturally worn surface, the basket has beautiful honeyed patina! A great piece, this would be a beautiful centerpiece for your table year round.

This is the most magnificent early KEELER with old original dry red paint. The pronounced chamfered handles on each side boast early rosehead nails. Constructed of tight staves held in place with secure iron bands, this piece is solid and sturdy. Dating from the 18^th century, the keeler has desirable signs of age and is worn smooth from hundreds of years of honest wear. Measuring 14 ½” in diameter, it is 10 ½ tall. Painted pieces of Americana that are this early are disappearing into collections and getting much harder to find.

An awesome piece of early 19th. century lighting. This had forged floor lamp is in excellent, as found condition with absolutely original surface. This wonderful light is both a candle light and a rush light. It has a retractable arm that pulls out and can be placed back in, folded up out of the way. It can be adjusted and used as necessary. The floor lamp measures 45″ tall. The arm fully extended measures 18 “. It measures 12 1/2″ between penny feet and each penny measures 1 3/8″. Please note the nice twist to the shaft of the lamp pole and the lovely penny feet. Sold

c. early 1800’s American Cheese Ladder/Cheese Carrier

This is a wonderful piece of early American treenware. Resembling a cheese ladder, it is actually a harder-to-find item known as a Bentwood Cheese Carrier. Circa 1801-1850, the cheese carrier is made of hardwood well-crafted with mortise and tenon construction. In addition, in lieu of nails, the rungs were fastened using wooden pins. The visibly hand chamfered markings, unique bentwood cradle, and beautiful naturally aged patina make this a true museum piece! Measurements are 27” long, 13” wide at top, 12” wide at bottom, and 6” tall.

This is a beautiful early19^th century New England candle box. The primitive box is decorated with old and original red wash. Made of pine, the box has well-defined features and early construction with square nails that have oxidized over time and wide dovetails on all four corners. The raised platform lid that is visibly hand chamfered has two recessed finger indentations and slides easily (old 1/4” chip on one end). It rests securely in the well-formed grooves. The candle box is a wonderful size measuring 9 3/4” long, 5 1/2”wide, and 4 ½” tall. A great piece of Americana!

The Best, Red Paint, Large Chestnut Breadboard

19th. century chestnut dough board/noodle board with original red paint. It measures 25: long and 19 1/2″ wide and 3/4″ thick. The breadboard weighs 8 pounds. It is of New England origin, circa 1820-1840. This antique dough or noodle board is in untouched, as found condition. It is made of one piece of chestnut wood with mortise and tenon breadboard ends. It is made with early hand forged wrought iron nails. It has the most wonderful painted ,in the period, Ox-Blood Red paint. The condition is overall good, the wood has the proper shrinkage and there are some niks and chips. It has as an old hanging hole. Early antique reflector or reading lamp. 19th. century. It measures 15″ high and 6 1/4 inch es across the reflector. The candle hood comes off and the candle is loaded thru the bottom. It has a spring push up.

Wonderful Country Primitive Desk, diminutive size, original surface

A truly wonderful diminutive sized, original paint desk. Fits just about anywhere and adds such character to any country setting. This desk was hand made, good craftsmanship but wonderful design. Notice the small details on either side of the drawer. The surface of this desk is outstanding, It looks like it may have been dark red but actually oxidized to a brownish red color. Good dry surface. I suspect the back shelf part may have been an addition to the original slant front desk. I say this because the back of the top part is made with old wainscoting and the use of round nails. It was a good addition because it allows space for useful as well as decorative items. The body of the desk uses both square and round nails. The bottom of the drawer is chamferd . A nice fitted inside drawer adds extra storage. A real touch of country charm. I would date this desk to the 1870-1880 or so. It measures 27 x 54 1/2 25 inches. The top shelf measures about 7 inches deep.

Fabulous Pierced Tin Candle Light

This is the most unusual candle light I have ever seen or had the privilege of owning. The case or lantern has a handle and hinged door that opens to reveal the candle light. The case is cut all around with little candles, row after row. It makes such a wonderful look and gives off a magnificent light. The outside lantern measures 7 inches tall and 4 1/2 inches in diameter. The inside candlelight measures 3 1/2 inches in diameter. The top of the lantern part is completely open. The bottom of both pieces is marked with museum inventory numbers. This is an exceptional early piece of lighting–it will become one of your favorites. Price: SOLD

A wonderful portrait from the late 1800’s done on canvas by Charlotte Cookright Kinney. Charlotte is a well known and well listed Kansas woman artist. The painting is signed in the lower right corner. The painting itself measures 8 x 10 inches and with the excellent frame it measures 13 x 15 inches. Note the delicacy of her line and the wonderful use of light she has mastered. A fine portrait.
