A great early design with a Pig Tail handle, original surface. A wonderful late 17th. or early 18th. century wrought iron spike candlestick with the best Pig Tail curled handle and a rolled candle cup in its original hand turned and tapered Maple base which still retains its original Black painted surface. The light is most likely American, New England, Circa 1690-1720. This is a great piece of early lighting in fantastic old surface and excellent original condition. There are no repairs or damage and great tool marks. The candlestick is 8 inches tall and the base measures 3 1/4 inches at the bottom. Examples such as this can be found in “Early American Antique Country Furnishings by George Neumann, and “Flickering Flame”, by Leroy Thwing. The light shows typical wear and imperfection with age as described. Quite a wonderful American candle light. Price: sold
