This piece came for a private Ohio collection. An early 18th. century American table top adjustable betty lamp stand with a fine turned saucer base and adjustable double wooden arm splint or rush holder. Made of Maple and Ash and has a very old, if not original red painted surface. The lamp stand is American, probably Connecticut , circa 1740 to 1780. You insert rush or splint into the cutouts on the arm. The arm was also used to hang betty lamps. The base is Maple and beautifully turned. The Ash shaft is doweled thru the base. The stand is 26″ tall, the base 7″ in diameter and the bar 12″ across. The condition is excellent but for some minor burning at the splint openings. Price: sold
