Quite a wonderful lighting stand. Circa mid to late 18th. century. The stand has it’s original wooden pin that was used to hold the lamp in place. There is a hole on the other side where another pin would’ve been. The shaft of the stand has rachets that would allow the height of the lamp holder to be adjusted up and down currently there are shims in place to hold the stand stationery. There is a hole in the back upright which most likely held a wooden dowel which most likely held a Betty hanger. The surface is really nice where the hot metal or hot grease has added wonderful character. The base has a hollowed out area from wear, there was perhaps a bowl of sometype to collect any dripping grease. The lamp stand measures 22 inches tall, and the base measures8 1/2″ wide at the back, 11 inches deep and 6 1/2 inches wide at the front. Truly a nice primitive lighting stand. Price: sold
