An absolute wonderful Sand Timer/Hour Glass. The timer measures 9 inch tall. It is circa 18th century with free blown globes joined together with string and wax. The form is of Two White Pine rings and the four turned shafts are mortised into its top and bottom plates and measure 5 inches each. The white sand flows freely and there are no condition issues. It’s surface is untouched and unpainted and has patinated beautifully thru time. The condition is excellent and the aged surface actually gives the feeling of being painted with an Ochre color.1760 is the year when the single or unitary “bulb” began to replace the earlier two-part bulb that had been conjoined by a combination of fiber and sealant, hence this sand timer is pre 1760. The sand timer measures 9 1/4 inches tall and the diameter of the base is 5 inches. The wear and age on this sand timer is absolutely exceptional . Believed to be American. Price: sold
