Early to mid 18th. c. Hickory cross bar and shaft, Maple X base. Constructed with hand forged square nails. Two adjustable candle rods that spiral up and down. Candle cups are attached with square nails. Shaft is mortised into the cross bar as well as the base. A primitive old double wooden candle stand with hand forged nails in wonderful condition. It was made in the 1700’s and is still very strong and study. It stands 28.25″ tall to the candle bar, 32″ to the top of the candle holder screwed down. The candle bar is 8.75″ long x 2.5″ across. It has tin candle holders with crimped pans that are on wooden pieces that will screw up and down. I believe they’re original to the piece. The round shaft goes through the top bar and the base, it’s also put together with 4 hand forged nails. The base measures 16×16″x2.5″ thick. The cross bar on top and the bottom cross boards all have rounded edges. The whole piece is really smooth to the touch from many years of handling. If there was paint at one time it has all worn off!! This candle stand is amazing so please check all This is absolutely an excellent piece of early lighting! Price: sold
