19th. c. Two Tiered Wall Box, Heart
A Fabulous double wall box having a steeple cut back centered with a cut heart. The box is constructed with Rosemead and square nails. The paint is a red/brown, more towards the red side, and original to the box. There was some damage on the right bottom side of the box and that piece of wood has been replaced, please see the photo with the arrow. The rest of the piece is absolute original. Please note this box was handcrafted by a “not so skilled” maker as seen in the way the upper box was attached to the back. The right side of that box is about 1/4 inch lower than the left side. Certainly a technical error but one that indicates this box was hand crafted for a special occasion for a special person by a person who wanted so to please. There is no indication that it was ever moved, it was made that way. Most likely by a husband who wanted to show his affection to his wife by producing this box, with heart, love and a bit shy on the skill. This quirk only makes the box more endearing.
