This is a quite rare tin whale oil peg lamp with the original wick pick. Peg lamps were used after whale oil became available in the second quarter of the 19th century. Whale oil was less expensive than candles, thus sparing candles for special occasions. The condition is very good and it dates early to mid-19th century. The lamp is 2 3/4” tall x 2 1/4” diameter with a 3/4” peg tapering to 7/8”. Wedding band light not included. Price: sold
