I am always attracted to tinder boxes and this one was one that really caught my attention. Made of tin, paint black with a delicate tole painted design around the perimeter of the box. Lower the latch to open the box that reveals all that is necessary to start a fire. There is a striker, Tow, flint and even a little candle holder attached to the tamper. What is so wonderful is the little box inside the larger box. This box is painted Black as well and has the same delicate tole painting. This box is used to store tow so as to keep it dry. The fact that the two boxes have stayed together all these years just adds to the charm. The tinder box measures 4 1/2 x 3 x 3 1/4 inches. Circa mid 19th. century. Excellent condition. Price: $750.00 + shipping

I update my merchandise on a regular basis but my big updates are around the end of every month. At that time I send out a slideshow featuring all of my new items. If you would like to receive the slideshow, send me an email and I will add your email address to the release. People on my email release get first peek at all the new monthly items before my ad comes out in the Maine Antique Digest. Most of the inventory I carry is 19th., 18th., and some 17th. century country primitives in original surface. I am an artist and I feature some of my original works on the site as well. I will work with you in any way possible to make your visit and your purchases as pleasant and satisfying as possible.
