This piece is just so pleasing to the eye. Wooden table, candle lights are always a joy to behold but this one is special in the fact that I have never seen a crossbar so short. The light was made of a very special space, probably one that is quite tight for space. The cross bar measures only 5 1/2 x 2 inches and the base measures 5 3/4 inches. The light stands 23 3/4 inches tall. The light has a spiral shaft and the light is constructed out of Pine wood. The lamp sports an unusual round base. Please note there is a hole in the top of the shaft. Looks like something may have been there at one time. Perhaps a type of decorative finial. It is missing. The surface is original and dry. Please note a bit of shaved wood off one side of the crossbar. Not a distraction at all. Circa mid 19th. century and I believe it to be American. Exception piece of early American Candle Lighting. I update my merchandise on a regular basis but my big updates are around the end of every month. At that time I send out a slideshow featuring all of my new items. People on my email release get first peek at all the new monthly items before my ad comes out in the Maine Antique Digest. Most of the inventory I carry is 19th., 18th., and some 17th. century country primitives in original surface. I am an artist and I feature some of my original works on the site as well.
