This is quite a lovely example of early candle lighting. This one I have owned for quite a few years. I love the fact that it still retains much of its original painted surface, has not been electrified. There are two sets of screw tabs on the light, one set raises and lowers the tin shades and the other tab raises and lowers the candle bar. The tin surface is painted with black original paint and gold stenciling that has tarnished thru years of use. The base of this light is weighted so it will not tip over easily. There is also a ring on the top for hanging or easy move. On the back of the light is a small tab that holds a tin snuff. I believe this light to be all original. The light measures 21 inches tall, the candle bar measures 13 inches and the base measures 5 1/2 inches in diameter.Circa early to mid 19th. century. sold

I update my merchandise on a regular basis but my big updates are around the end of every month. At that time I send out a slideshow featuring all of my new items. If you would like to receive the slideshow, send me an email and I will add your email address to the release. People on my email release get first peek at all the new monthly items before my ad comes out in the Maine Antique Digest. Most of the inventory I carry is 19th., 18th., and some 17th. century country primitives in original surface. I am an artist and I feature some of my original works on the site as well. I will work with you in any way possible to make your visit and your purchases as pleasant and satisfying as possible.
