A very nice mid 19th. century medium size lidded box. The chest measures 31″ long and 11 1/2″ high. It is 13 1/2″ deep. The Paint is just wonderful, and original. When I purchased the box it had “make do” Leather hinges that were likely old replacements from the original hinges. In my opinion I felt the leather hinges were very poorly done so I replaced them with 5″ strap hinges. When you look at the photos of the back of the box you can see how the leather hinges were applied. I believe the new hinges work better. The lid is stable and opens and closes easily. The box is made of Pine Wood. There are Remnants of the lock. This piece was found in a local Rhinebeck, NY estate. Would date it early 19th century. The paint is wonderful, Brown, large dots on a Red base paint. Very clean inside, could be used for storage. No odor. Price: sold

I update my merchandise on a regular basis but my big updates are around the end of every month. At that time I send out a slideshow featuring all of my new items. If you would like to receive the slideshow, send me an email and I will add your email address to the release. People on my email release get first peek at all the new monthly items before my ad comes out in the Maine Antique Digest. Most of the inventory I carry is 19th., 18th., and some 17th. century country primitives in original surface. I am an artist and I feature some of my original works on the site as well.
