Miniature Painted Blanket Chest, New England, 18th. c.

An absolutely charming miniature blanket chest. This sweet piece retains its original, dry Brown painted surface. The chest actually is dovetailed and has snipe hinges. The left snipe hinge is a replacement. This is a New England piece and dates 1720-1740. There is a very small hole in the lid of the box, I have no idea why that would be there. There are Rosehead and T Head nails used to secure the bottom board. This is a very sweet piece of American folk Art. It measures 6 x 2 1/4 x 2 1/2 tall. Price: sold
