19th. century Water Magnifier

One of my favorite forms. This is a wonderful 19th. century water magnifiers. They are unusual and difficult to find. This particular magnifier is a little different than the ones I have had in the past. This magnifier has two panes of glass not the three that I have had in the past. I believe this magnifier is best used being held in the hand rather than lying on the page. There is a small hole in the side where you would fill the magnifier with water. Most likely there was a cork which is long gone. This particular magnifier has its original red painted surface. The magnifier measures 5 x 2 1/4 x 1 5/8 inches. Price: sold
