An unusual Late 19th. century, American Box style wooden sugar cutter in American Maple and Pine in its original red painted surface. American and probably New England, circa 1870. This primitive cutter has a box type bottom and a hinged turned handle with an attached iron blade. There is also another stationary iron blade inside the box container. The piece is in its original red painted surface with great patina. Besides sugar chunks or cones the box could be used for assorted cutting purposes. The box measures 12 inches long, 7 1/2 inches deep and 6 inches tall. Price: sold
