Early 19th. century Retractable Candle Light
This is an outstanding piece of early lighting. A fine retractable, single arm candle light. The light is unique in that the retractable arm is very stylized and has an adjustable arm. You can loosen the little wing screw and that lowers and raises the retractable iron light arm. A most unusual feature of this light is that it has a cast iron base. I have never seen another like it. It certainly wont tip over. Most often the bases are wood or tin but this one is a heavy piece of shaped iron. Truly a remarkable piece of early lighting. The overall height of the light is 19 1/2 inches and the diameter of the base is 5 1/2 inches. The retractable iron light fully extended measure a full 18 1/2 inches. This light is circa 19th. century and quite possibly 18th. century. Price: so
