An early 18th. century, primitive, small sized, “miniature” blanket box. The box has a rounded edge top with applied , detailed bottom moldings. The miniature box still retains the best, old, well worn Black paint over the original Red. The box is made of native White Pine and Poplar. This lovely box is likely from Pennsylvania and is circa 1780-1820. The miniature box is in a wonderful small size with dovetailed construction. The Black paint dates to around 1840-1860 and the original red is almost fully exposed. The blanket box has the original Brass hinges and its original iron lock, but missing the escutcheon. The nails are early and some are early roseheads. The blanket box measure 11 inches wide and 6 1/2 inches deep and 6 1/2 inches tall and has a divided interior. The divider is replaced. The box exhibits typical wear that you would expect from nearly 250 years of use. There are a few errant holes and usual wear that you would expect. Price: sold
