18th. century Horn Book

This is an original American c. 1720 horn book in untouched condition. It is oak with handwritten ABC’s and Lord’s Prayer under a sheet of horn held with brass strips. The ink has faded and run as the horn has two small cracks over the years, but the horn is stable now. I have seen these where the original horn and paper were removed and replaced with a sheet from an old chapbook, but this one is intact. It shows honest use and wear and measures 7 1/4″ by 4″ by 1/4″ thick. It is sturdy and the wood is solid. This is fresh from a collector. Please notice the string repair that holds together an old crack. Price: sold
