One of my favorite forms, a table top butter churn. Butter churns are often found but the table top size is a little more difficult to come by. This one is just super. Not only does it have great form, and age it also has a wonderful provenance. The surface wood is natural, original an patinated from age and use. Wide wooden straps give the staved side structure and support. Please note in the photos that there is a bit of damage to one of the wooden bands. This piece has been deacessioned and was at one time part of the collection on display at the Plymouth Plantation Museum. Notice the itemized numbering on each piece of the churn and the label on the bottom of the churn. This Small Early Butter Churn measures 15” tall with handle. Overall 33” tall with the dasher and a 6 3/4 inch diameter base. The Churn has such a wonderfully dry surface! Wrapped construction with pegs and early nails. Just a great piece of Americana. Circa mid 19th. century. Price: sold
