A wonderful early 19th. century painted lantern. The construction and condition of this lantern is striking. I believe the glass to be original, there is a sag in the glass on the front door, looks to be a crack but it isn’t. Just an indication that the glass is very old and has sagged. This lantern is of a size that allows it to be hung from a peg rack, it is a bit narrower than most. The lantern measures 11 x 8 x 5 1/2 inches. The paint is dry and shows wear. The candle cup is original as is the lock and hinges, cap, handle and even the pegs that go thru the wooden pegs on the top of the lantern. This is an excellent example of a late 18th. to early 19th. century lantern. Price: 1495.00 + shipping
