Quite an unusual American, tin hooded hanging candle light. Circa mid to late 19th. century this hanging light has great form and adaptability. The light has its original black painted surface and is in very good condition. The light itself has 4 candle holders. Each candle holder is cleated thru a crimped candle tray. It appears that each candle cup can hold both a larger diameter and smaller diameter candle (see photos). On the top of the hood are four chimneys. One would think they were there to release smoke and heat from the candles below, not so, the hood is solid. I can’t come up with a reason as to why it is designed this way except maybe for appearance and form. None the less, the hanging light is full of charm and character. The overall height of the light is 19 inches, the hood at its widest measures 16 inches in diameter and the spread between candle cups is 10 inches. Excellent provenance. Price: sold
