PILGRIM PERIOD 17TH CENTURY AMERICAN HAND HEWN AND CARVED WOOD “PORRINGER WITH HANDLE” IN GREAT CONDITION AND OLD ORIGINAL ATTIC SURFACE ALL IN AMERICAN MAPLE. Probably Marshfield, MA area, New England, Circa 1670-1700. THESE EARLY HAND CARVED PIECES WERE USED AS BOWLS, MORTARS, GRINDERS AND CUPS. The porringer is ALL HAND HEWN OUT OF A SINGLE PIECE OF AMERICAN MAPLE AND HAS THE BEST UNTOUCHED ORIGINAL UNPAINTED ATTIC SURFACE AND PATINA. IT IS ALL ORIGINAL AND IN FANTASTIC CONDITION WITH THE ONLY LOSSES BEING SOME OLD AND VERY TIGHT AND MINOR CHECKS AND STRESS LINES IN THE BOWL, SEE PHOTOSThis is a very important piece of PILGRIM CENTURY AMERICAN WOODENWARE. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY EARLY FORM. It measures 6 1/2″ long and the bowl is 3″ deep. It is 2 1/2″ tall. The condition is about as PERFECT as you can get with only the usual wear and tear you would expect and a couple of very old and tight shrinkage lines as seen in the photos. Price: sold
