Early 19th. Century, Painted, Lidded Master Salt

Such a fine piece of American treenware. Most likely New England and of the finest form. The form is unusual in that it is a lidded Master Salt that has an oxidized blue painted surface. The paint has patinated to a very dark, dark, almost black in appearance. The condition is excellent. The opening of the salt is slightly out of round so the lid fits best in one position. The Master Salt measures 5 1/2 inches tall and the diameter 3 1/4 inches at the base and 3 inches at the top. Price: sold
