A fine, fine lantern. Lots of special features. The lantern is circa mid 19th. century or earlier. Original Soldier Blue Paint. The lantern has its original pegs securing the top, not nails like you see most of the time. I believe most of the glass is original, one pane might be replaced. The way you get into the lantern is one of the panes of glass is actually halved, so you slide it up and gain access to the inside of the lantern. This lantern has no candle cup and never did, you melt the candle into place to secure it. The paint is dry and impeccable. The lantern measures 12 1/2 inches tall and 6 1/4 inches square. The top has a flat pierced tin piece that releases the heat. Original handle. As lanterns go this is a 10. Excellent provenance. Price: sold

I update my merchandise on a regular basis but my big updates are around the end of every month. At that time I send out a slideshow featuring all of my new items. If you would like to receive the slideshow, send me an email and I will add your email address to the release. People on my email release get first peek at all the new monthly items before my ad comes out in the Maine Antique Digest. Most of the inventory I carry is 19th., 18th., and some 17th. century country primitives in original surface. I am an artist and I feature some of my original works on the site as well. I will work with you in any way possible to make your visit and your purchases as pleasant and satisfying as possible.
