Fabulous Canted, Lift Lid Table Box, w/Drawer
This is an outstanding piece, a beautiful painted table box from the mid 19th century. The for and features of this box make it an outstanding example of an American table box. First, the surface is original Grey/Blue, about 80% present and aged to a soft finish. The top of the box is ever so slightly canted, lift lid exposes a nice well for storage. The hinges are coil cotter pinned. There is a drawer on the side of the box for extra storage or perhaps candles. When you look at the construction of the box you can’t help but notice how finely the dovetails are formed. A real piece of craftsmanship on this box. Lovely American table box, may be out of Pennsylvania. The box measures 13 1/2 x 6 1/2 x 7 1/2 ( at the high back) and 6 1/2 (at the front of the box). This box would please most anyone.
