Fabulous Early 19th. century Fragment Mirror
A wonderful example of an early 19th. century fragment mirror. This mirror is just extraordinary and comes with excellent provenance but originally came from the Helen Marler collection. Everything about this piece is exceptional, from the original painted surface with its original Black paint, the form is extraordinary–notice how the mirror is cut into the shape of the frame. The mirror measures 5 x 3 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches, the handle adds 3 inches. The glass mirror measures 2 x 3 1/2 inches. The form is chunky and the mirror is set deep into the frame. The rim of the wooden frame is trimmed with metal. On the one side it is impressed with the name ??? Brook. American fragment mirror, a real treasure for your collection.
