Fabulous Late 18th. century Wooden Lantern

I just love the form of this particular lantern. It has the best form, features and patina. I believe it is circa late 18th. to early 19th. century. The lantern is comprised of wooden slats that circumvent the the tin candle cup. The patina is exceptional and I believe the wood to be Pine. The surface is original and actually worn to a buttery feel with a warm Pine patina. This particular lantern has a “lift up” arm which raises the candle cup and candle for lighting or changing. The original iron handle is present and sturdy. This form is not often found and this example is exceptional. The lantern measures 12 1/2 inches tall and 8 inches in diameter.
