A late 17th. century/early 18th. Century red painted slide lid box having complete Rosemead nailed construction, all nails are present and quite lovely. The box has an old paper label on the side stating it is a Suffield Ct. box that was made on or before the year 1800. A lovely box with an unusual curved end to the slide lid gives the box added character. . The lid is chamfered very thin and does hold and slide as you open and close the box because of the replacement rails that have been added to the inside of the box, the rails are lined up with the track (see the last photo). Someone added the old emery board, prior to the added rails, at some point in the life of the box. I have left it in place,as it adds to the integrity of the piece. The box measures 11 x 5 1/4 x 5 inches. Excellent provenance. Price: sold

I update my merchandise on a regular basis but my big updates are around the end of every month. At that time I send out a slideshow featuring all of my new items. People on my email release get first peek at all the new monthly items before my ad comes out in the Maine Antique Digest. Most of the inventory I carry is 19th., 18th., and some 17th. century country primitives in original surface. I am an artist and I feature some of my original works on the site as well.
