An early, original Red painted wooden and glass barn, candle lantern. This unique candle lantern has an unusual raising mechanism. The candle cup is seated into a wooden bar and an iron rod is attached. To light the lantern you raise the rod and it easily lifts the candle cup up thru the opening in the top of the lantern. This as an easy way to light and extinguish the flame. The lantern measures 13.5 inches high and about 6.5 inches square, with a total height, including the iron handle of 18 inches. The lantern is in extremely good condition, with solid construction and the raising mechanism raises and lowers easily. The glass panels do not appear to be original. A New England lantern from the late 18th. to the first part of the 19th. century. Price: $1475.00 + shipping
