I love make-do candle lighting devices and tis one is so very perfect. They are such a reminder of the time when utilitarian items were scarce and weren’t discarded when broken. This make-do candlestick has a wooden base, probably chestnut, and a copper candle holder that was cut off a hog scrapper type candlestick. Tabs cut from the barrel and nailed to base with rosehead and square nails. The candlestick is 4” tall with a 3” diameter base. It has a wonderful untouched natural surface. American, c.1760-1780. This came out of an early NY state collection. Truly the best look and function. Price: sold

People on my email release get first peek at all the new monthly items before my ad comes out in the Maine Antique Digest. Most of the inventory I carry is 19th., 18th., and some 17th. century country primitives in original surface. I am an artist and I feature some of my original works on the site as well.
