This is quite an unusual piece of early 19th. century lighting. Such a great, country look. The candlelight is a spike light. Was originally used impaled into a piece of wall wood in early American homes. The spike light has a heart shape base that holds two candles. The candle cups are wrapped and adjustable, so they can be extended or retracted as needed. The light is circa early 19th. century and could quite possibly be late 18th. century. The spike light measures about 7 1/2 inches deep thru to the spike and 6 inches wide with the candle cups fully extended. The spike light has been inserted into a fragment of wood with a plaque back for hanging. This allows for easy hanging of the spike light. The spike can be easily removed from the plaque if you wish to take it back to its original form and use it as a spike. The light has two candle cups and are supported in a heart shaped base. American double candle light spike light. Price: sold
