Unusual Early 1800’s Sand Timer–Great Small Size

Most unusual early 1800’s small size hourglass, sand timer. The glass is constructed in one piece, not two pieces joined. 1760 is the year when the single or unitary “bulb” began to replace the earlier two-part bulb that had been conjoined by a combination of fiber and sealant.This timer is circa 1820-1840. The hourglass is set into the small cage and wooden pegs are used in the joining. The surface is original, darkened from age. The sand timer is in Excellent condition and is a small and unusual piece, perhaps made for a ship as the glass would be so protected from damage. Its presence is lovely. The provenance on this piece is excellent. Price: sold
