Wonderful Candle Box, Paint Decorated

A lovely, medium side slide lid candle box. The candle box is well dated and paint decorated with swags, a large pinwheel on the lid and dated on the lid and underside of the lid of the box. The top of the box has the painted pinwheel and Initials NBS with the date 1861. The sides of the box are decorated with lovely swags. The box is constructed using dovetails. The ground paint on the box is Brown. On the underside of the lid of the box are carved initials NBS and a date of 2/19/1859. I believe the original date of the box from 1780 – 1820 and was given as a gift, possibly wedding gift in 1861. The box measures 10 1/2 x 7 1/2 x 3 3/4 inches. A beautiful storage box with lots of history. Price: sold
