When people of means traveled in the 18th century, they often took their favorite liquor with them. I was fortunate enough to have been able to buy this very rare liquor chest made for travel. This example is a rare smaller size, 10 1/2” wide x 6 3/4” deep x 9” tall. It is made of English oak (travel liquor chests were only made in England for America) and has dovetailed construction with a brass bale handle and lock escutcheon. There are 5 of the original 6 gin bottles remaining. The bottles were hand blown to fit the box. They all have the original decorative gold-wash design. One of the bottles is missing its stopper and there is one missing bottle. The two cutouts in the cover are for drink glasses. The inside of the cover and the tops of the wooden dividers are covered with the original period wallpaper. C.1760-1780. This very rare travel liquor chest came out of Lynchburg, VA collection. Price: $895.00 + shipping

I update my merchandise on a regular basis but my big updates are around the end of every month. At that time I send out a slideshow featuring all of my new items. If you would like to receive the slideshow, send me an email and I will add your email address to the release. People on my email release get first peek at all the new monthly items before my ad comes out in the Maine Antique Digest. Most of the inventory I carry is 19th., 18th., and some 17th. century country primitives in original surface. I am an artist and I feature some of my original works on the site as well. I will work with you in any way possible to make your visit and your purchases as pleasant and satisfying as possible.
