A very rare American apothecary bell metal brass mortar with original iron pestle and the beautiful original cherry wood stand. The stand is 8 ½” tall x 7 ½” in diameter at base; the well for the mortar is 4 ½” diameter x 1 7/8” deep. The mortar is made of bell metal brass and is 6” tall x 6 ½” diameter. The original pestle is iron and has a ball at each end. This mortar & pestle is very rare to find with original stand. 18th century. Would have been found in an apothecary shop in the period.
