Pedestal serving plates from this period are almost impossible to find. This one was lathe turned from a block of pine. It has the original red milk paint that gives it a sheen from use. This piece was found in MA but may be of European Dutch origin. The serving plate is 4 1/4” tall x 10 1/2” – 11” in diameter. It has a lathe hollowed out base with a cut off sprue. This is typical construction for these very early pieces. It does have some sheen due to the milk paint surface and years of polishing. There are no issues. C.1680-1750. Very rare. I update my merchandise on a regular basis but my big updates are around the end of every month. At that time I send out a slideshow featuring all of my new items. People on my email release get first peek at all the new monthly items before my ad comes out in the Maine Antique Digest. Most of the inventory I carry is 19th., 18th., and some 17th. century country primitives in original surface. I am an artist and I feature some of my original works on the site as well.
