A very Early 18th. century Spice Box. It is made of black walnut and dates to the 1760-1780 time period. The slide has a raised panel and and the box was dovetailed and T-Head nails were used in base. There are six compartments, each to hold a spice. The dimensions are 9 3/4” long x 5 3/4” wide x 3 1/2” tall. There is a very tight hairline crack in lid that is stable and barely noticeable. It has a very smoothly worn surface with wonderful patina. The spice box is American and possibly from the Philadelphia, PA area. It came out of a very good collection in PA.
