This is such an unusual wig from the 19th or even late 18th. century. I believe the wig was made for a woman. It is small in size and the underside is a pastel cotton. All hand stitched. This style is not the Barrister style but the natural look of the early wigs. If you look closely you can see how the ponytail of the wig is actually braided to control the hair so it isn’t free blown. The wig is in very good condition and comes with excellent provenance.
